“No good will, just self interest” echoed Ayn Rand when questioned on her vision of a world without government spending on infrastructure. Sadly “self interest” doesn’t care when it’s the pot holes on your neighbors street, replacing crumbling sidewalks or reinforcing that rickety old bridge on the side road. Self interest doesn’t care to patch parking lots in impoverished parts of town and replace light bulbs in street lights in poor neighborhoods. Self interest wants main thoroughfares and bridges. Places you can be charged for usage. Oh Mr. Trump, have you been reading too much Atlas Shrugged when you decided on your infrastructure plan? Time to wake up!
